July Social Media Ideas 2026

July is peak summer. Holidays, barbecues, outdoor adventures and festivals make it a month of high energy and high engagement. In the UK and Ireland, July brings the Twelfth (NI Bank Holiday), the start of school holidays and the height of festival season. While some industries slow down, smart brands use July to dominate social feeds when competition drops off. It’s also the perfect time to plan your Q3/Q4 strategy while riding the wave of summer activity.

Content Pillars for July

There are 7 main content theme categories I recommend for every social media plan: Promotional, Entertainment, Customer Focused, Motivational, Community, Educational and Personal. Each category builds awareness, interest and engagement differently. Test content types for each to see what works best for your audience.

Here are my top 3 recommended content pillars for July 2026:

1) Entertainment

Summer holidays mean your audience is relaxed, scrolling and looking for fun. Entertaining content — challenges, quizzes, memes and outdoor-focused Reels — will outperform everything else this month. World Emoji Day, Plastic Free July and the start of school holidays all add to the fun.

2) Promotional

Independence Day (US audiences), summer holidays and the Northern Ireland bank holiday create spending moments. BBQ gear, outdoor products, summer fashion, travel — whatever your niche, July consumers are ready to buy. Summer sales and clearances also perform well.

3) Personal

July is mid-year. Share reflections on the first half of 2026, personal lessons and behind-the-scenes content. Audiences connect with the human side of brands, especially during the laid-back summer months. South Asian Heritage Month also starts in July.
