February Social Media Ideas 2026

Updated: Mar 18

February is a short but powerful month for content. Valentine’s Day dominates the cultural conversation, but there’s so much more to work with — LGBT+ History Month (UK), Time to Talk Day, Children’s Mental Health Week and St Brigid’s Day in Ireland. It’s also when consumers start thinking about spring, making it a great time to tease upcoming launches or seasonal products. In the UK and Ireland, February has a cosy, indoor energy — perfect for longer-form content and engagement-heavy campaigns.

Content Pillars for February

There are 7 main content theme categories I recommend for every social media plan: Promotional, Entertainment, Customer Focused, Motivational, Community, Educational and Personal. Each category builds awareness, interest and engagement differently. Test content types for each to see what works best for your audience.

Here are my top 3 recommended content pillars for February 2026:

1) Promotional

Valentine’s Day is one of the biggest commercial events of the year. Whether you sell products or services, create gift guides, bundle deals and limited-time offers. Even B2B brands can lean into the theme — “things we love about our customers” or “why we love what we do.” Don’t forget Galentine’s Day (13 Feb) and the growing anti-Valentine’s “self-love” market.

2) Community

February’s awareness events provide perfect opportunities to connect on a deeper level. LGBT+ History Month, Time to Talk Day and Children’s Mental Health Week all invite authentic conversation. User-generated content campaigns and testimonials work brilliantly this month.

3) Entertainment

Valentine’s Day and the tail end of winter create a fun, light-hearted atmosphere. Memes, quizzes, “this or that” posts and playful content will boost engagement. Pancake Day (17 Feb) is also a massive moment for fun, shareable content in the UK and Ireland.
